Anne Arundel County Department of Health is holding a Zika Awareness Town Hall meeting on Thursday, April 28 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Anne Arundel Community College, 101 College Parkway, Arnold, Maryland in the Florestano Building.
The meeting is in observance of Maryland Zika Awareness Week (April 24-30), which was declared by Governor Larry Hogan.
Nine cases of Zika virus infection have been confirmed in Maryland, all related to travel from areas of ongoing transmission. No Zika virus transmission has been identified in Maryland at this time.
Staff from the county Department of Health and the Maryland Department of Agriculture will provide an overview of the Zika virus as well as information on how to prevent and control mosquitoes.
Residents are encouraged to join the effort to raise awareness about the Zika virus and learn how to prevent infection and transmission.
