With the presidential election this week, check out an interactive learning website that helps explain the Electoral College and much more.
PBS LearningMedia’s Electoral Decoder offers kids (and grownups, too) a timeline of presidential elections since the first in 1789. Users can run different scenarios to see which states a candidate must win to achieve the key number of 270 electoral votes to win.
Explore past presidential elections. Then go to this week’s election to become a political pundit. Will the winner be Republican Donald Trump, Democrat Hillary Clinton or a third party? Flip the states from party to party and strategize a political campaign. The website also outlines the 2016 election with key events.
Visit the PBS LearningMedia’s Election Central website for details.
