When to Visit
I would recommend going on a weekday if you can, early on a weekend or off-season. We went on a weekday and the playground was not crowded but a lot of people were at the beach. We may take a trip back in the chillier weather because I have heard it is very quiet!

About the Playground
Are you in the mood for a daytrip? We took a half-day trip to Sandy Point State Park. We had a blast at their new playground. It was an adorable nautical ship/beach theme. Well actually there are two structures. The other structure is a woodsy feel.
Our Favorite Part
Our favorite parts of the playground were the fake wave stairs, the turtle, the “crab shack” and the ship wheel. My favorite part was being able to view the beach/water from the bench as I watched the kids since it is part of the view. My children definitely played on the beach theme playground structure more than the woodsy structure because the theme was unique to what they normally see. The woodsy playground does have some cool entrances like fake logs and rocks to climb up.

It’s All About the Details
This playground is not covered in shade so keep that in mind if you go on a sunny day. However there was a slight breeze from the water. Don’t go on the slides if it is a hot day, though!! Also there are a couple benches under a tree. I really liked that I could see the whole playground at once (good for multiple kids at once) and felt I could navigate on my own being the only adult for the adventure. I also found everything super easy to find- parking lot, bathrooms, beach and playground are all right by the parking lot.
Bonus!
There is another playground closer to the entrance (away from the beach). We did not have time to visit it but nobody was on the playground when we drove by.
