Confused about how the new Common Core State Standards are going to play out in Maryland? Then plan on attending one of four Back to School Regional Public Forums on the Common Core State Standards in the next few weeks.
This fall, public schools in Maryland will be implementing the Common Core State Standards, along with 45 other states and the District of Columbia. Teachers have been working hard for several years to prepare for the transition, according to State Superintendent Lillian M. Lowery.
The forums will include a chance to get answers to any Common Core questions; remarks from State Superintendent of Schools Lillian Lowery and Maryland PTA President Ray Leone; and a teachers perspective of the new academic standards.
