When your kids come in from the chilly outdoors this year, treat them with homemade hot chocolate that’s way better than pouches of old cocoa and freeze-dried marshmallows.
You can make a batch to last all winter long, and even portion the mix into small jars for single servings whenever the mood strikes or to give as holiday gifts!
Easy Hot Chocolate Mix
*adapted from Joanne Ozug of Fifteen Spatulas
Ingredients
- 2 cups confectioners sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 c. powdered milk or instant nonfat dry milk
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- Pinch of salt
Directions
Whisk together the confectioner’s sugar and unsweetened cocoa, to get rid of any lumps. Then stir in the powdered milk, cornstarch and salt, and whisk well until everything is combined. Add mini marshmallows to the container, if desired. This can be kept in the pantry for 6 months.
To Make a Mug
Combine equal parts hot cocoa mix and hot water (about half a cup each). It’s easiest to put the mix in a mug, then pour the hot water on top.
Make a Party of it!
