Do your kids want to try fishing but you don’t have any fishing poles? Did you know you can check them out of an Anne Arundel County Public Library? Before you head to one of these Five Great Fishing Spots for Families, borrow a fishing pole from the library.
The Anne Arundel County Public Library, in partnership with the Department of Natural Resources, will be loaning fishing poles from the Deale (5940 Deale-Churchton Road, Deale, MD 20751) Eastport-Annapolis Neck (269 Hillsmere Drive, Annapolis), Edgewater (25 Stepneys Lane, Edgewater, MD 21037), Mountain Road (4730 Mountain Road, Pasadena), and Severna Park (45 West McKinsey Road, Severna Park, MD 21146) libraries.
“The mission of the Anne Arundel County Public Library is to educate, enrich and inspire our customers,” said Hampton “Skip” Auld, library CEO. “Given this county’s extensive shoreline and interest in water activities, we feel like this program is a good fit,” he added.
Fishing poles can be checked out for three weeks. There is no limit to the number of poles you can check out. Borrowers must have a library card with Anne Arundel County Public Library and assume all responsibility of the fishing pole and accessories. The library will not be held liable for any injury due to the fishing pole. Any fishing pole not returned will result in a replacement fee of $15. Fishing poles cannot be returned in the book drop, or left outside the library. Anyone over 16 does need a fishing license to fish in Maryland.
Once you have your fishing poles ready, take the family to one of these 6 Spots to take the kids fishing in Maryland.
