What do you love most about what you do?
We would not be who we are without the deep commitment of our collaborative team of providers! We feel so grateful that we get to work every day with providers and fellow humans that are not just committed to helping their clients, but are committed to keeping themselves well in order to continue giving back, and are deeply committed to their community. Sustainability is one of our core values as a business.
Many of us are connected to organizations and social movements close to our hearts and families. We believe in sustainable practices that support the helper and those we help. Many of our therapists are also parents in the community and juggle caring for families in addition to their clients. We built Anchored Hope to be a grounded place to heal amongst the waves of life. We aim to promote healing, growth and resilience within our team, ourselves, with our clients and our community.
How is your business invested in the community?
We share a deep commitment to providing mental health services that intersect with social justice efforts and also invite other modalities of healing into our work. We work collaboratively with acupuncturists, craniosacral facilitators, and other bodyworkers to support not just the mind in healing, but supporting the body as well.
We are committed to continuing strategic partnerships and collaborations that support our community in gaining access to services in order to minimize barriers to care when possible. All of the clinicians at Anchored Hope Therapy accept commercial insurance to promote accessibility to mental health care. We are actively working to recruit a diverse team of therapists that are affirming and representative of our larger community.
How has your business evolved?
We started as a dynamic duo in May of 2016 and slowly grew our team of providers who share our commitment to provide accessible trauma-specific therapy services in the area. We (Christine and Chelsea) trained and worked at Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore City, prior to moving to Anne Arundel County and opening Anchored Hope Therapy. In 2020, the demand for services expanded to telehealth in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and we shifted business practices greatly. Our need to be intentional about caring for ourselves was also great and we explored new collaborative relationships for different modalities of healing.
We expanded services to include ecotherapy and nature-informed therapy at a local farm and we also expanded referral networks for body-oriented healing practices. We are now a team of 30+ providers and we share an office space with massage therapists, craniosacral facilitators, acupuncturists and are committed to maintaining high quality evidence-based therapy with a goal to incorporate mind-body healing practices as well.
