Understanding Earth Day
April 1970 was the first year that Earth Day was recognized and celebrated. Have we made much progress? That’s certainly a question for debate. If nothing else, I’m more aware now of how much needs to be done.
What I don’t understand is why we aren’t doing more? There are a lot of simple things that we can do that when multiplied can have a big impact.
I believe that it is well understood that the environment we live in is a delicate ecosystem where one building block supports the next. The loss of habitat for birds and other pollinators is setting the stage for a dangerous lack of diversity. What happens without them? In California farmers have to rent bees to come in and pollinate their almond trees.
One family, and then another, and another can start to make a difference. Here are some simple things your family can do.
