Spring is that you?! After a long winter, spring seems to finally have made a grand entrance. Now that we’re able to enjoy beautiful days full of sunshine I thought I’d share one of my favorite parks with you, Kinder Farm Park!
The Basics
Kinder Farm is located in Millersville, and is a really awesome park you’ll have no problem spending a whole day exploring! Before getting on the road be aware that Kinder Farm has a daily entry fee of $6 or you can purchase an annual entry permit for $30 that can be used at all the Anne Arundel County parks and is well worth it in my opinion since it’s good for the whole year. There are multiple parking areas as well as restrooms located right by the playground.
All about the Animals
Kinder Farm is a rather large park and just as its name implies it’s also a farm. Kinder Farm animals are cared for by 4-H and volunteers. Many visits we’ve been lucky enough to experience the handlers taking care of the livestock. We have gotten to learn about and even handle some of the animals ourselves! The kids have brushed cows, held baby chicks, and pet baby goats. There are usually pigs, goats, cows, hens, bunnies, and chickens to check out.
The Playground
Kinder Farm has two playgrounds. The main playground is close to the barnyard area and just had a major renovation. It’s really a dream playground for the kids. It features three different levels and something for all ages. On busy days we visit the much smaller playground, which is usually less crowded.
Lunchtime!
Kinder Farm also has many perfect spots to plop down on a blanket or stake out one of the many picnic tables to enjoy a picnic. We love to follow one of the many trails and find new places to picnic. We haven’t taken every trail but the each one we have taken has always led to something interesting.
